Proiectul PRUT este rezultatul unei cercetări asupra zonei rurale de pe malul românesc al râului Prut (județele Iaș, Botoşani, Vaslui). Inițiat în 2011 de artistul Matei Bejenaru, proiectul își propune să înțeleagă cadrele profunde de manifestare, de gândire și de viață materială existente la nivelul satului românesc contemporan, contestând un tip de citire rudimentară a teritoriului rural din perspectiva unor teme precum sărăcia, migrația sau arhaismul, dar și a senzaționalului de tip jurnalistic care impune adesea o privire inadecvată asupra realităților zonei. Nouă ne place pentru că e un jurnal de la sat, direct de pe teren.   --- Matei Bejenaru’s documentary photography project explores the Romanian rural landscape and its diverse topographical, social and economic aspects alongside the river Prut. Over 1500 photo-negatives made during the past seven years are part of a growing archive of images, a visual documentation following long-term changes within this territory.   PRUT thus aims to recount the recent histories of the Romanian rural in this part of the country and to reflect on the frameworks of the manifestation, thinking and material life existing here, challenging a type of rudimentary reading of the rural territory from the perspective of topics such as poverty, migration or archaism, but also of the sensational journalistic type that imposes the address an inadequate look at the realities of the area.
