This booklet may be interpreted as an English summary of the Romanian book Bazele geometriei sintetice plane (Dan Branzei, Paralela 45, Pite0, 2005). Such an inter-pretation is valid but not the best one. This booklet was conceived during a summer visit atthe University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. The geometrical truth is nonperishable and universal but it strongly depends on the aim of its study. There are a lot of different ideas about what we expect geometry to be. Must it be intuitive or abstract? Must it be modern or traditional? Must it be a theory or a reason to raise problems? We hope that the booklet offers a meaningfull point of view: geometry for the benefit of the mathematics teachers.
