The organisational success, its achievement of competitive advantage and its performance are built upon the vision asserted by the strategic management. Drawing on the emerging importance of intellectual capital becomes a mechanism whereby an organisation can facilitate competitive performance by aligning organisational capabilities. Efficient strategic management helps strengthen an organisation?s dynamic and operational capabilities, which in turn lead to competitive performance gains. The urgency to mainstream the strategic management process and performance is posed by the unprecedented pace that the contemporaneous business environment has assumed along with the great impact of globalisation. The desired transformation in present-day organisations can be better enhanced when organisational leadership, corporate governance, business ethics, intellectual capital, innovation, knowledge and performance jointly become an integral part of the organisational culture. The competitive business world and the changing conditions make it necessary to constantly re-assess the available human and financial resources so that the required outcomes, that is the desired performance, will be achieved. Meanwhile, creating an environment that recognises and sustains performance, brings about change in the way people behave, act and think. In the disruptive and changing context of our times, we need to examine to what extent the new normal, the post-pandemic environment, acts as a catalyst in influencing intellectual capital, a strategic resource for creating competitive advantage. The current disruptive business context prompts companies to adapt to new challenges in order to properly accomplish their objectives.
